Like many others I want to say "Thank You" ... I also live out of state but have a daughter and her family who live in Ramona. Thru your site the Sentinel I was able to keep up todate as to what was happening there ... AND, at one time passed the info on to my daughter who was unable to get on the internet. Also, reading the stories as to how the people in Ramona "stepped up to the plate" to help their neighbors was extremely encouraging! Once again "thank you" for the good work.

I evacuated with the boys to my parents house about 3 hours north of San Diego, and the news channels up here and other websites have had pretty spotty information about what's happening in Ramona. From the time I was very young, I have prepared for fires. No matter where I lived, I planned an escape route. I live on Mussey Grade Rd. and didn't lose anything in the Cedar Fire. I still live there and was blessed again in the Witch Fire. Maybe I can accept a tiny bit of credit for being a good Girl Scout and being prepared. More likely those blessings were given to me by the unbelievably courageous firefighters and support teams who believe so strongly in what they do they risk their lives to protect me. Is there such a term as "civilian military"? I think there should be. THANK YOU FOR HAVING THE KIND OF COURAGE I DO NOT HAVE.
Thank you RMWD for working 16 hour days out in the field to repair generators and pumps. Thank you for working at Mt. Woodson while still on fire to get water up and running as soon as possible. Thank you for calling up volunteers (my uncle) to help you when everyone else had evacuated. Thank you to my uncle, who lost his house very early Monday morning, and yet when called by RMWD later that day, came in to help without a home to go to at the end of the day. You are all my heroes. Please ignore all other comments. You stayed and worked and did all you could for this town, as ungrateful as it may be.
